Those in Pastoral Care Gather for a session of Sharing Our CaringRepresentatives from 30 parishes in our English sector, as well as representatives from the various hospital chaplaincies, gathered amidst the warm hospitality of hosts at St. Margaret Mary Parish Ottawa, on Saturday, November 17th, 2007, to network, discuss, and reflect on the important ministry of pastoral care in our diocese. Representatives engaged in animated discussion about all that is going on in pastoral care while taking time to share coffee and conversation with those from other parishes who may benefit from their endeavors and experience.
Members of a diocesan committee, under the leadership of vicar general, Msgr. Kevin Beach, who are preparing recommendations for pastoral care for Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, presented some of what is happening in their reflection and opened themselves to feedback from those gathered. Many helpful insights and recommendations came to the floor that will help to guide their reflection. Those present indicated a strong desire to gather again, next year, to continue networking with one another and to examine an enriching and timely topic together. Sharing Our Caring is an initiative of the Adult Faith Development and Leadership Formation office, designed to help in the ongoing formation and support of those engaged in this important ministry.
