Press Release - December 30, 2004 TRAGEDY IN AFRICA AND ASIA OTTAWA, ONTARIO His Excellency Marcel Gervais, Archbishop of Ottawa, has called for prayer and solidarity in the wake of the recent tragedy brought about by the tsunamis in Africa and Asia. In a letter to all pastors and parishioners of the Archdiocese, the Archbishop writes: As the enormity of the tragic tsunamis in Africa and Asia grows by the hour, I am calling on each of you to stand in solidarity with so many of our brothers and sisters who have been affected. Firstly, let us pray fervently for all the victims who lost their lives or their loved ones and often their homes and even their villages. Secondly, I am calling on each of our parishes to hold special collections to aid the survivors of this terrible human disaster. Finally, may the Lord of all consolation hear our prayers and come to the aid of so many who suffer in these difficult times. Please note that all funds collected will be turned over to Development and Peace. Source: Gilles Ouellette |
