PRO-LIFE CELEBRATIONS

OTTAWA, ONTARIO

Diocesan Week For Life 2004

The Archdiocese of Ottawas Diocesan Week for Life will run from Monday May 10 to Sunday May 16, Pro-Life Sunday.

The principal activities of this week-long celebration are:

  • Pro-Life Sunday, May 16 Celebrations dedicated to life will be held in parishes throughout the Archdiocese.
  • A banquet hosted by Campaign Life Coalition Ottawa on May 13 at the Government Conference Centre (across from the Chateau Laurier), Ottawa. Call (613) 729-0379 for more information or to reserve tickets.
  • On Thursday, May 13th, at 10:00 a.m., the National March for Life Mass will be held at Notre Dame Cathedral. The celebration with Ottawa Archbishop Marcel Gervais as Presider will be followed by the march and a rally on Parliament Hill. These events are organized by National March for Life. Feast of the Visitation

Another major diocesan pro-life event will be held on Thursday May 27 at Notre Dame Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. The Archbishop will preside and deliver the homily at the Feast of the Visitation Mass. This Feast of the Visitation of Mary commemorates an encounter between two pregnant women: Mary, mother of Jesus, and her cousin Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, as described in Lukes Gospel, chapter 1, verses 39 to 56.

The Ottawa Archdiocese Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Womens League, the Filles dIsabelle, the Centre Miriam, a centre for mothers in need, as well as the youth of the diocese will be participating in this celebration.

Members of Ottawa area pro-life groups are the special guests at this celebration and parishioners, priests and deacons of the Archdiocese have been invited to attend as well.
